What is Six line?
A six line in roulette is a wager on two adjacent rows of three numbers, six numbers in total, such as 1 to 6, paying 5 to 1.
The chip is placed on the outside edge of the layout where the two streets meet. On a European wheel the chance of winning is 6 in 37. The French name is sixain.
The six line is the largest of the inside bets. Beyond six numbers, roulette layouts switch to outside bets such as dozens and columns, which cover twelve numbers each.
Like other standard bets on a single-zero wheel, the six line carries a house edge of about 2.70%. On average, a six line wins about once every 6.2 spins on a European wheel. It pays less than a street or corner because it covers more numbers, so the higher hit rate is balanced by the lower payout. Two six lines placed side by side cover twelve numbers, the same coverage as a dozen bet at an equivalent price. The French layout labels the bet sixain, while English tables often call it a line or double street.
