Who we are

Casino Courant is published by CMV Marketing, IJsselstein, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 83290044. CMV Marketing is the controller for the personal data described in this policy.

The short version

• We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies or analytics cookies.
• We have no user accounts, comment system or newsletter, so we collect very little about you.
• Our server keeps basic technical logs for security, for no more than 14 days.
• If you email us, we use your message only to deal with it.
• We do not sell your data and we do not use it for profiling.

What data we process and why

Server logs. When you visit the site, our web server automatically records your IP address, your browser's user agent, the page you requested, and the date and time. We use these logs only to keep the site secure and working, for example to detect attacks, abuse and errors. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Email. If you write to one of our addresses, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, the content of your message and any attachments. We use this to answer you, to handle corrections, press releases and advertising enquiries, and to keep a record of our correspondence. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying to and handling messages (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, where you ask about advertising or sponsored content, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Settings in your browser. The site can remember your light or dark theme and a list of articles you have saved. This information is stored only in your own browser's local storage and is never sent to us. See our cookie policy.

Search data. We use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google search results. Search Console gives us aggregated statistics, such as search queries and clicks. It does not place cookies on your device and does not tell us who you are.

How long we keep data

• Server logs: no more than 14 days, after which they are deleted automatically. Logs may be kept longer only if needed to investigate a specific security incident.
• Email: as long as needed to deal with your message and for a reasonable period afterwards, normally no longer than two years. Correspondence linked to a contract or invoice is kept for as long as Dutch tax law requires, currently seven years.

Who processes data for us

We use a small number of service providers (processors) who handle data only on our instructions:

• Hosting: the site runs on a virtual private server located in the European Union. The domain name is registered with Hostinger.
• Email forwarding: messages sent to our @casinocourant.com addresses pass through Forward Email (forwardemail.net), which forwards them to our mailbox.
• Email inbox: our mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail).
• Search statistics: Google Search Console, as described above.

International transfers

Forward Email and Google may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified companies, or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have incorrect data corrected;
• have your data erased;
• restrict our processing of your data;
• object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
• receive your data in a portable format, where this applies.

How to use your rights or complain

Email [privacy@casinocourant.com](mailto:privacy@casinocourant.com). We may ask you to confirm your identity. We will reply within one month.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the data protection authority in the country where you live.

Security

We use an encrypted connection (HTTPS), keep our software up to date and limit access to logs and email to the people who need it.

Children

Casino Courant is meant for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email [privacy@casinocourant.com](mailto:privacy@casinocourant.com) and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If the way we handle personal data changes, for example if we ever introduce analytics or advertising, we will update this policy before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
