Editorial standards

How Casino Courant works: independent reporting, credited sources, AI-assisted drafting with human editors, corrections and how our top 10 lists are made.

Last updated 5 October 2026

Our principles

Casino Courant reports on casinos and gambling for adult readers. Our aim is to be accurate, clear and fair, and to keep editorial decisions free from commercial influence. We report on gambling. We never encourage anyone to gamble.

Independence

Our editors decide what we cover and how we cover it. Advertisers, sponsors, operators and game providers have no say over our editorial content and do not see articles before publication.

We report on companies whether or not they advertise with us, and that includes critical reporting.

Sources and attribution

We base our reporting on public sources such as regulators, court documents, company announcements, financial reports, game providers' published data and other news media.

Every article names its sources and, where possible, links to them. When a story was first reported by another publication, we credit and link to that publication. We quote other people's work only in short extracts, with credit.

Where a claim comes from an interested party, such as an operator's own press release, we say so.

How we use AI

Most of our daily news is produced with the help of AI. The system reads public sources, picks stories with news value and drafts an original article that names and links its source. We use AI to summarise, structure and write, never to invent quotes, people, sources or figures: the drafting rules forbid anything that is not in the source.

Automated checks run before anything is published: every external link is tested, images are checked against the story, and the article is held to our style and length rules. An editor oversees the desk, reviews published stories and is responsible for what we publish. When we get something wrong, we correct it, see below.

Ranked lists and weekly round-ups are built from our own published reporting and from public data, using the method described in this policy.

Corrections

We correct mistakes quickly and openly. If you see an error, email [editor@casinocourant.com](mailto:editor@casinocourant.com) with a link to the article and an explanation.

When we make a correction that changes the facts of an article, we add a note at the bottom of the article that says what was corrected and the date. Small fixes such as typos are made without a note.

Press releases

We welcome press releases at [press@casinocourant.com](mailto:press@casinocourant.com). A press release is a source, not an article. We decide independently whether it is newsworthy, we check the claims where we can, we add context and we name the company as the source.

We do not publish press releases unedited as editorial articles, and sending a press release never buys coverage.

Editorial and commercial content

Paid content, such as sponsored articles, advertorials and partner content, is always clearly labelled and visually separated from our journalism. Our editors do not write paid content as if it were editorial reporting.

Payment cannot buy a place in our editorial rankings, reviews or news coverage. If a placement in a list is ever paid for, it will be clearly labelled as such. See our advertising disclosure.

How our top 10 lists are made

Our lists of games, jackpots and casinos are based on public, checkable information. Depending on the list, we look at:

  • return to player (RTP) as published by the game provider;
  • the game provider or operator, and its licensing;
  • popularity, based on public data such as search interest or published figures;
  • release date and features;
  • for jackpots, the amounts reported by the operator or provider.

Dates, data and no paid positions

Each list explains which criteria were used and when the data was collected. Positions in our lists are never sold. Figures can change after publication, so check the latest details with the provider.

Conflicts of interest

Our writers and editors may not accept payment, gifts or favours that could influence their work, and they do not cover companies in which they have a personal financial interest. If a possible conflict of interest exists that is relevant to an article, we disclose it in that article.

Responsible reporting

We do not write for minors, we do not present gambling as a way to make money and we do not glamorise losses or chasing losses. Articles about gambling products point readers to our safer gambling page.
