What is Max win?

Max win is the largest amount a slot can pay on a single spin or feature, usually expressed as a multiple of the stake, such as 5,000x or 50,000x.

Studios cap the potential payout of each game. Once the cap is reached, the round typically ends and the capped amount is paid. A game with a 10,000x max win at a £1 stake can pay at most £10,000 from one spin, including the feature it triggers.

High max wins are a marketing feature, but they are usually extremely rare. The probability of hitting the top figure can be in the order of one in millions of spins, and it says nothing about the typical outcome of a session. Some studios publish the odds of the max win, many do not.

Operators also set their own payout limits in terms and conditions, which can be lower than a game's theoretical maximum, so the stated max win is not always the amount a player could receive.
