What is Game weighting?
Game weighting is the percentage of each bet that counts towards a bonus wagering requirement, which differs by game type to reflect each game's house edge.
Slots commonly count at 100%, so a £1 spin counts as £1. Table games such as blackjack or roulette may count at 10% or 20%, or be excluded entirely, because their lower house edge would otherwise make it easier to clear a bonus with little expected loss. A £10 blackjack hand at 10% weighting counts as only £1.
Operators also exclude specific slots, often those with very high RTPs or high volatility, from bonus play. The list is set out in the bonus terms.
Game weighting is one reason two offers with the same headline requirement can have very different real costs. Weighting tables are usually set out in the bonus terms, and some operators apply different weightings to the same game type across different promotions. Live dealer games are often excluded or weighted very low.
