What is Come-out roll?
The come-out roll is the first roll of a new round in craps, which either settles pass line bets immediately or establishes a 'point' number.
On the come-out roll, a 7 or 11 wins for pass line bettors. A 2, 3 or 12, known as craps, loses. Any other total, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, becomes the point. The shooter then keeps rolling until either the point repeats, which wins for the pass line, or a 7 appears, known as a seven out, which loses and ends the shooter's turn.
Many craps bets are tied to this sequence. Pass and don't pass are decided by the come-out and the point, while come and don't come bets follow the same logic starting from any later roll.
Understanding the come-out roll is the starting point for following how a craps table works. The shooter is the player throwing the dice, a role that rotates around the table.
