What is Revenue share?
Revenue share is a commercial model in which one party receives a percentage of the revenue generated by another, common in affiliate deals and B2B supply agreements.
In affiliate marketing, an affiliate might receive 25% to 40% of the net gaming revenue from players it referred, for as long as those players remain active. The alternative is a cost per acquisition, a fixed fee per new depositing player, and many deals combine both.
In B2B, game providers and platforms often charge operators a percentage of the GGR or NGR their products generate.
Because payments depend on how revenue is defined, disputes often centre on what is deducted to calculate NGR, such as bonuses, taxes and chargebacks. Some regulators have questioned whether lifetime revenue share gives affiliates an incentive to attract high-spending players. Negative carry-over clauses, which roll an affiliate's negative month into later months, are another common point of negotiation.
